Portrait Commissions

There are times when we want to capture a moment in time of friends or family members. Commissioning a portrait is a wonderful way to do this. While I strive to get a person's likeness my drawings and paintings are meant to be expressive rather than photo realistic.

I generally work from photos, that either I can take or you can provide. Ideally the photos are taken in natural light either through a window or outdoors. Send me a few of your favorite photos and tell me why you picked them. If you want a group portrait I have worked from more than one photo and then review the collaged composition with you prior to starting the work.

My drawings and paintings are on archival paper and are supplied with archival mats, ready to frame.

Charcoal Drawing & Watercolor Painting Prices

I charge by the square inch.

Works 130 square inches or less are $3.00 per square inch

  • A 8” x 10” painting (80 square inches) costs $240.00

  • A 10” x 13” painting ( 130 square inches) costs $390.00

Works larger than 130 square inches are $2.50 per square inch

  • A 12” x 16” painting (192 square inches) costs $480.00

  • A 16” x 20” painting (320 square inches) costs $800.00

A group portrait may require a larger size and I am happy to review size options with you once I know more about your specific project.
